Jr. Forward Deployed Engineer
About the role
About the Role
Batchship helps businesses move parcels domestically and internationally. We're hiring an engineer who can sit on both sides of the table: working with prospects to show how Batchship fits their operation, then rolling up their sleeves to build the integrations that make it work. You'll be the technical bridge between our customers, our sales team and our product. One day you're leading a live demo for a shipping manager; the next you're connecting their order system to our platform through RESTful APIs and MongoDB. If you enjoy solving real logistics problems with code and explaining the solution to the people who use it, this role is for you.
What You'll Do Customer-facing (Sales Engineering)
• Partner with the sales team on discovery calls to understand each prospect's shipping volume, carriers, lanes and pain points.
• Deliver tailored product demos and technical presentations for domestic and international parcel use cases.
• Answer technical questions, complete security and integration questionnaires, and scope proof-of concept projects.
• Translate customer requirements into clear solution designs and hand-off notes for the product and engineering teams. Hands-on (Forward Deployed Engineering)
• Build, configure and troubleshoot customer integrations using RESTful APIs, webhooks and MongoDB.
• Write scripts and lightweight tools in JavaScript and Python to automate onboarding, data mapping and migrations.
• Work on-site and remotely with customer teams to launch, test and stabilize integrations with their order, warehouse and ERP systems.
• Use LLM-based tools to speed up solution design, documentation and data transformation work. • Manage code and configuration in GitHub and keep integration documentation current. Feedback Loop
• Bring field insights back to product: recurring integration gaps, carrier requirements and feature requests.
• Coordinate with internal teams through Outlook and Lark to keep customers, sales and engineering aligned
What You'll Bring
• A bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Computer Science, or both (or a related field).
• Practical understanding of how cloud-based systems work: hosted services, APIs, authentication and data flow between systems. • Hands-on experience designing or maintaining integrations with MongoDB.
• Working knowledge of RESTful APIs: reading API documentation, making and debugging requests, and handling JSON payloads.
• Knowledge of international and domestic parcel supply chains, including carriers, rating, labeling, tracking and customs basics for cross-border shipments.
• Programming ability in JavaScript and Python.
• Clear communication skills, with the ability to explain technical ideas to both engineers and non technical buyers.
• Comfort splitting time between customer meetings and independent technical work
Tools and Tech Stack Languages: JavaScript, Python Data and Integrations:
MongoDB, RESTful APIs Code and Version Control: GitHub AI
Large language models (LLMs)

Nice to Have
• Prior experience as a sales engineer, solutions engineer, implementation engineer or forward deployed engineer.
• Familiarity with major parcel carrier APIs and shipping platforms.
• Experience connecting e-commerce, WMS or ERP systems to shipping software.
• Practical experience applying LLMs to business workflows.
• Additional language skills that support work with international shippers and partners
